My Crazy Life

First, just to let you know, Tale is coming along great! I'm on chapter 32, so only 8 more to go. At least on my end anyway. Still waiting to get back the chapters from my critique partner, Heather, so I'm sure there will be changes I have to do before sending it on to the beta readers. I'm hopeful it will be in the next couple of weeks.

Second, I'm also waiting to get the cover finished. The painting is done and scanned into a file, now waiting for the title and my name to be added, along with creating files for Amazon and the like. I do have to start on the blurb for the back and plan to do that this weekend.

So, lots going on, but in the midst of all this, I've been struggling with IBS, which hasn't been a for sure diagnosis until I have a few more tests. All I know is when I have an attack it is very painful. I've been to the Kaiser after hours and the emergency room, and even though my heart and other parts seem normal, there really is no explanation as to why I can't eat anything without finding myself in severe pain. It's extremely frustrating to say the least.

The other big news, well, almost surreal for me, is I have discovered my blood family(s). For those of you who don't know, I am adopted - hence the reason I wrote Stevie as an adopted baby.

I was contacted by whom I think is my 3rd cousin, Debbie Mahoney, and we ended up on the phone. Since then she and I text almost everyday about who my birth parents could be. I told her that I'm sure I'm the best kept secret in their family.

After speaking with my newfound cousin, I made contact with another woman who is my 2nd cousin, which we determined, and I actually went to her house yesterday and met her. I lucked out having a blood relation here in Colorado! Her name is Elizabeth, but she goes by the nickname, Betty.

Betty is a lovely person. I enjoyed getting to know her and learning about her side of the family - or - I guess my side. It's kind of hard to wrap my mind around it yet. I did contact the Bureau of Vital Statistics and spoke with a woman from there yesterday. She gave me another woman to contact and told me it is quite a process to unseal my adoption papers.

Both of these issues have weighed heavily on my mind and soul the last couple of weeks. It's been hard for me to concentrate on the book with all of this going on, but I'm trying to get through it. I will keep plugging away though. I have a set goal and hope I can reach it.

I do have to say my life is anything but dull. There is always some kind of conflict or different direction for as long as I can remember.

Those of you who are adopted can fully understand what it's like for me right now. I am ready for some simplicity in my life though 'cause I'm tired.

I hope to meet my goal of having my launch in November. Keep your fingers crossed for me while I struggle through. All of you have been very supportive and have stuck by me with my book journey and other life's challenges. Thanks for that!

I'm leaving you with a couple of cool pictures, and I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and hope to hear from you.

Love, Lisa

Just Catching You Up

Now that I'm at the revisions segment of writing a book, I am reminded of how much work it is. Not only combing each line and adding or taking away either paragraphs or scenes, it's detailing the story as needed.

On top of that, I have a running list of things I want to do to the story. And I need to finish the outline so that I can glance at the book in it's entirety. Whew ... I'm tired already.

But I'm on it. I'm up to chapter eight at this point. I had a little weekend diversion - Comic Con. Which, by the way, was very successful. Not only in sales, but in meeting new contacts and building new relationships.

I do want to announce that I will be at Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers conference this September. They set up a book store and book signing on Friday night the 8th for the authors and it's open to the public. Even more good news - Diana Gabaldon, author of Outlander, will be there! You can come out and meet and say hello!

I am extremely excited about that. I want to ask her when the 9th book of the series will be out. Although she does have a new book, which is actually two novellas in one, ready to buy.

It will be at the Renaissance Hotel in Denver - Sept. 8 - 10. I hope if you're in the Denver area you decide to stop by.

So, the next thing I'm hoping is to have the book ready to publish this fall. And that means - Launch Party!! I love my launches. I have a lot of great people who come by, not only to get a signed copy of my latest and greatest, but to visit and have a wonderful cup of coffee at Bean Fosters in Golden.

Lots going on this fall, plus it will be cooler, and I'm all about cooler weather. Keep your fingers crossed for me that everything pans out and Tale will be available by November. That's my goal anyway.

Well, I just wanted to get you caught up to what's new. The revisions are moving along great. I will be hitting up my beta readers real soon, and then off to the editor.

I hope you're looking forward to Tale! I know a few people that are, and I've recently gained a few more fans so that's great news too.

Take care and stay in touch. I hope you have a wonderful weekend and don't forget to read!

Love, Lisa

I'm Back and Tale is Done!

Hi Everyone! I hope the last few months have been great for you. I know it's been awhile since I've posted on here, but I had decided, since not too many people ever commented on here, that maybe I would lay off it for a while and concentrate on getting my book written.

Well, it's done! At least the rough draft is finished. I just sent the last chapter to my other critique partner after fixing my marks. I'm very excited!

What's next, you ask?

I go through it again. But it will go much faster since it's all written now. I think it will take a few months to revise and be ready for beta readers. Then next, my editor.

My cover is coming along too. We had a small set back, but it will be finished by the end of the month.

This book's premise is more about the Gods of Djenrye. There's not a lot of battles, but there is magic, and Stevie will be coming more into her role as the Guardian. She will learn some new things about herself too. I sure hope everyone of my readers like it!

The next book, maybe two, will be more about the huge battle to come and then everyone fighting for their lives! Stay tuned...

Now, onto a few announcements and a question.

I will be at Denver Comic Con if you're going. My booth number is D-18 if you decide to stop by and visit. I wish I had Tale available to buy, but it is what it is. I didn't want to rush it and it not be all it can be. I will also be at Rocky Mountain Fiction Writer's conference in September. It's in DTC and I think anyone can come in and buy books. I won't have Tale there because I couldn't register it since it's not published yet, but there will be a lot of fun things to do and see there. One of which, the author of Outlander will be there!

I will have my book launch this fall. You will be able to get Tale there, since it will be all about Tale! I will let you know when that is.

Now, my question. I am thinking about writing Lineage, which is the second book in the Djenrye Chronicles series. It will be about how the Andrones came to be. I will write a chapter and post it online. You would pay a dollar to read and then you can offer your ideas, suggestions and comments as I go.

Then when I am finished with the story, I will rewrite, and use your ideas as part of the writing. After it's all done, then it will be published on Amazon. The question is, well two questions: Would you be interested in being a part of that and would you be willing to pay as you read each chapter?

Let me know. I think it would be fun!

Again, I hope all is well with you and I look forward to revealing the cover soon and publishing Tale!

Happy Summer, Lisa
